A Testimonial and Reflection Session by Ben Reuler, LT’16

Join Ben Reuler, LT’16, in this 90-minute session where he will delve into the integral relationship between organizational growth and personal development. Explore how fear and discomfort can give way to a beautiful new, liberated organizational culture, considering themes such as courage and mental health.

This workshop is for LT alumni and allies dedicated to dismantling racism. Engage in a facilitated conversation examining specific policies and resources, such as naming/norming on culture, equitable hiring practices, racial grievance policies, sample templates for worker self-directed structures in board resolutions, and distributed decision-making frameworks.

Leave with fresh perspectives and actionable insights for advancing an antiracist agenda within your personal and professional spheres. Plus, you will foster deeper connections with the LT community!

Ben Reuler, LT’16 is the Founder + CEO of In the Area Productions,  where he leads conversations rooted in love and antiracism. Ben primarily supports white people, especially white men, in progressing on their antiracism journey. Ben's work has been endorsed by national leaders including Ijeoma Oluo, author of the #1 New York Times Bestseller So You Want Talk About Race; Kristy Fercho, Former Chairman of the Mortgage Bankers Association & Head of Diverse Segments at Wells Fargo; and Ruchika Tulshyan, LT'16 and author of Inclusion on Purpose: An Intersectional Approach to Creating a Culture of Belonging at Work.  

 Ben is a former licensed social worker and nonprofit executive director who loves sharing his story and learning from others. Ben has delivered keynote remarks at numerous events, including at a benefit concert featuring Grammy Award winning musician Ben Harper and at University of Notre Dame’s “Making a Living Making a Difference” symposium. Ben spoke at the National Philanthropy Day luncheon when his nonprofit was recognized as the region’s Outstanding Philanthropic Organization and at the Global Engagement Summit. He has delivered remarks at the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation; spoke about “Building Better Nonprofits” with Food Recovery Network; at the Women of Color in Philanthropy & Fundraising national Allies in Action kickoff event; and has been a featured speaker for multiple events and cohorts hosted by Seattle Arts & Culture for Anti-Racism (SACA). 

As a trainer Ben has facilitated sessions throughout the country. Recently, in 2024, Ben led a session for the NFL on courageous, equitable leadership where he spoke to every single DEI lead of all 32 NFL franchises. He also works with Higher Ed institutions, nonprofits, and companies. Ben has trained hundreds of National Service members on human-centered approaches to direct service, led national trainings on suicide prevention, and facilitates white antiracism meetups to support white people on their anti-oppression journeys.  

 Ben is the recipient of the Alumni Social Impact Award from University of Chicago's School of Social Service Administration; was one of 120 nationally who participated in Harvard Business School's Young American Leaders Program in 2018; and Ben is a proud Leadership Tomorrow graduate of the class of 2016. Ben is based in Seattle, Washington; in his free time, he plays, coaches, and watches a lot of basketball.
