LT Alumni Conversation: The Compact for Belonging, Frank Nam, LT'13

  • Leadership Tomorrow 1301 5th Ave, Suite 1500 Seattle, WA 98101 United States (map)

What does it mean to belong? What are the barriers to belonging? How does belonging impact our ability to create a thriving community?

These are some of the questions Frank Nam, LT’13, Project Director at Civic Commons, will explore during this LT Alumni Conversation. Frank will discuss the Compact for Belonging, including how it was developed and who was involved in its creation. Participants will meet in small groups and provide feedback on the Compact’s values, practices, and calls to action. There will also be time for Q&A and for participants to consider how they could apply this compact to their organizations. Join us to consider ways to create a region where we all do better when we all do better.

Since 2018, Civic Commons has been holding conversations focused on the importance of belonging. They believe that to get to a transformative society around shared prosperity, we must begin with relationships, not transactions.

Based on what they heard in these discussions, they created an initial draft of The Compact for Belonging, which is a new social compact that coalesces the values, practices, and calls to action that bind us together. Civic Commons hopes that the Compact will be a touchstone for us to co-envision and co-create a civic garden that sustains us all.
